Banks in Noida assure safety of customers' assets Close

NOIDA: Directed by the Supreme Court to move out of residential areas in Noida, the affected banks on Saturday gave an assurance to customers that their assets and accounts will remain safe.

Representatives of banks operating from residential areas today held a meeting and assured customers that they will not face any difficulty due to shifting of the branches.

"The branches will ensure smooth functioning of account and lockers. However, inconvenience caused to customers is deeply regretted," Syndicate Bank manager Arun Kumar said on behalf of all the banks.

About 104 Bank branches, which have been operating in Noida from residential areas for decades, have been asked to shift to other locations.

The order triggered panic among customers as they are not sure about the safety and security of their bank assets and belongings kept in lockers. The RBI taking cognizance of the complaints had directed the banks to ensure safety of assets of account holder and locker holders.

Following the apex court's order, the Noida Authority started sealing these banks on February 1, however on February 4, the authority desealed the banks on the court's direction in which 6 weeks time was given to the banks for shifting.
