Wall Street returns to highest level in more than a year

While most stocks advanced, gains turned muted as the day progressed, with the S&P 500 closing 0.7% higher, the Dow up 0.3% and the Nasdaq Composite advancing 1.2%. Gains were led by big technology and high-growth stocks, while banks also rose on the back of hopes for a halt in rate hikes.
